Guidelines for Performers
Check the website for your performance date. If your piece requires an accompanist, engage one and schedule rehearsal time.
Two weeks before your performance date, send the monthly senior advisor the name of your composition, the composer and your accompanist.
Performers will introduce their own selections. You may prepare a short introduction about your composition/composer to share with the audience.
Honor your assigned date for performance. It is your most important obligation and a privilege of membership! Exchange of dates can be arranged if your senior advisor is notified immediately.
Remember, singers, pianists and dramatic performers must perform from memory. Instrumentalists are strongly encouraged to do so.
Guidelines for Senior Advisors
One month before your program, contact the student performers for the names of compositions and composers. Confirm that they have made arrangements for an accompanist, if necessary. Provide them with names of pianists, if needed.
Remind singers, pianists and dramatic performers that they must perform from memory.
One week before the program, contact the performers again as a final reminder. Let them know where they appear on the program.
Simple printed programs are always welcome but not necessary. The student can announce his/her own piece.
Provide refreshments for approximately 30 people. You may be reimbursed for up to $15 from the treasury, if you so request.
All senior advisors should contact their student advisees to remind them of special events.
